• Dear Tawina

After completing my associates degree I decided to take a gap year to look for a job in order to fund the rest of my education. As an international student it was challenging to secure employment. A close friend from college was working with Apple and reached out and recommended that I apply for a position there. I was hesitant at first as I had been denied employment by smaller companies in comparison to a large established company like Apple. I decided to submit the application and to my surprise I was offered the job ! It was surreal! To top that , I was even able to transfer to a closer location to my residence , within the same week of starting my employment after the same friend encouraged me to ask the manager for a transfer. This job gave me an opportunity to network and forge friendships and that I still currently have and cherish. Despite having moved on to another organization , I still consider Apple as one of the greatest places I have ever worked at! I am grateful for a good friend who created an opportunity for this to happen! My association with him was indeed a blessing!

  • Dear Tawina

We overcome by the blood of the Lamb and the word of our testimony… In June of 2016 I visited my new primary care physician as I was fairly new to DFW and was seeking my new team of healthcare providers. She advised me to get a mammogram scheduled because I told her I had gotten off schedule due to relocating and procrastination sadly. Shortly after that visit I had a new salon client come in and we began discussing health and typical women’s issues. I mentioned to her that I needed to schedule my mammogram and she agreed. The next week she came in and she followed up “Did you schedule your mammogram?” I replied “no, but I was going to.”The following week she came back in and she followed up again. “Did you schedule your mammogram?” I hadn’t done it. I was a bit embarrassed and confused why this new client was so concerned and persistent in ensuring I made this appointment. I assured her I would. Then I saw her name on my book again. My first thought was let me get this mammogram scheduled so that when she asked I could truthfully reply yes I had scheduled it. Sure enough she came in and she asked and I proudly answered , “yes”. I didn’t think anymore about our interactions until after my mammogram I was diagnosed with stage one breast cancer. When my doctor stated we caught it early so that was good. My mind went to the fact that if not for my client’s persistent concern and kindness I would have probably procrastinated even longer. She was the first client I shared the diagnosis with. I asked her why was she so concerned and persistent in her follow up with me getting my mammogram? She shared that her sister was in the battle. I told her she would always be a part of my testimony. And so many times when I share my testimony, which is every opportunity the Lord gives, a woman is reminded that they too need to get their mammogram. The kindness and persistence of my client to me has blessed countless other women with peace of mind or early detection. Although she lost her sister I believe she has saved many lives through me sharing how her kind persistence saved my life. My prayer is that women who read this testimony take care of your health. I’m cancer free coming up on 9 years! We are overcomers!!! Thank you Lord!

I am deeply grateful for the blessing of association that came my way through one of my loyal fans and followers in the year 2020. This remarkable individual, recognizing my poetic voice and passion, recommended me as the keynote speaker at a prestigious event. To my astonishment, this event was attended by the newly elected president of Malawi. The honor of sharing my poetry in such an esteemed presence marked a pinnacle in my career. Since that memorable day, this supporter has become a trusted reference contact, continuously opening doors and fostering connections that have significantly impacted my journey. Their unwavering belief in my talent not only validated my work but also exemplified the profound influence of genuine support. This experience has reinforced the power of community and the unexpected blessings that arise from being uplifted by others.

  • My Dad showed kindness and I was awarded a scholarship as a result!

    “Dear Tawina,

Thank you so much for allowing me to share my story with you. I am forever grateful.

My Father was very good at making and maintaining great relationships with people and he made some great relations and associations with several individuals in some educational institutions. When I was attending college , there was an opportunity to get a partial scholarship. I and a few other students was advised that they no longer had enough funds for that particular scholarship fund, however when the Registrar saw my last name , he remembered a man with the similar name, my father who had once once showed kindness to him and he eventually found out that we were actually related and therefore decided to also extend the same kindness to me and I was advised to write and submit an essay that was required to be considered for the scholarship. My essay was accepted and I was able to get a scholarship that saved me a substantial amount that I would have paid towards my college tuition. My association with my father who had showed kindness to the registrar, resulted in getting awarded a scholarship!”
